πΆ How to Distribute Your Music on Digital Platforms?
Wiseband allows you to release your music across a wide range of platforms (Apple Music, Amazon, Spotify, Deezer, Napster, Qobuz, Beatport, etc.). Here's a step-by-step guide to help you distribute your music!
π’ Step 1: Create an Article
- Go to the "Distribution" / "Digital Catalog" page and click on "New Distribution".
- Choose the product type: Digital Distribution.
- Select the format of your release: Single / EP / Album
Note: Whenever the "?" symbol appears during the creation of your album, you can hover over it to get additional information about the current step.
Once your article is created, it will appear in your article list on the "Digital Catalogue" page of your account.
π’ Step 2: Upload Your Files in the Correct Format
Once on the article creation page, you can upload the cover of your release. Here are the required criteria:
- Dimensions: 30003000 px ideally (14481448 px minimum)
- Format: JPG
- Colorimetry: RGB
Then, upload your tracks in MP3, WAV, or FLAC. Here are the requirements for each format:
- MP3: 320 kbps
- WAV: 16 bits (or 24 bits HD)
- FLAC: 16 bits
Tip: We recommend uploading your files in WAV format, as MP3 is not accepted by some platforms (e.g., Tidal and Qobuz).
π’ Step 3: Enter Metadata
For the next three steps, if there's an error, the field label will appear in red.
Note: For more information on the error, hover over the red text to display it. You won't be able to proceed until the error is corrected.
General Metadata (Single / EP / Album...)
- Enter the title of your product and only the title. Do not enter your artist name in this field.
- Enter the barcode (UPC code for France and Europe, and EAN code for the US and Canada). If you don't have a barcode, Wiseband will generate one for you.
- Note the digital release date and the label name (if you're self-produced, check the corresponding box).
- The primary genre (mandatory) and secondary genre (strongly recommended) should also be filled out.
Track Metadata for the Album
- The titles of the tracks are automatically filled with the name of your audio file (in green).
- Be sure to rename or correct the titles if needed. The tracks may not be in the order you initially entered. To reorder them, drag the track to the desired position.
- You must list at least one Author and/or Composer (or beatmaker) per track. Their first and last names are required. If there are multiple authors/composers, separate their names with a comma and space (e.g., Author1, Author2, Author3).
- You can also indicate a featuring and/or a version of your track.
Optional Track Metadata
- Only fill out optional metadata if you have the information. If not, skip this step.
- The ISRC code is assigned by the SPPF or SCPP (producer organizations), and the ISWC code is assigned by SACEM. If you don't have either, we can generate an ISRC code for you.
- If your lyrics contain explicit content, check the "Explicit Lyrics" box (mandatory).
- If your music isn't registered with SACEM, and the authors aren't registered, or the song is in the public domain, uncheck the "SACEM" box.
π’ Step 4: Choose Platforms
Select the platforms where you want to distribute your album.
Tip: For a successful release, we recommend allowing a month between your distribution request and your release date.
If you have selected YouTube as one of your platforms, you will be asked to certify that you hold the exclusive rights to the tracks you want to distribute (to benefit from YouTube Content ID).
π’ Step 5: Artist Pages
On music streaming platforms, the artist page is a digital showcase where listeners discover your music and learn more about your work. It plays a crucial role in promoting and distributing your music online.
At this distribution step, you need to fill out your artist pages so that our team can assign your releases correctly.
- The left side is for the main artist of the release. If you havenβt added your artist page links in your group settings, you can do it now by clicking "Edit" π΅. Once the links are added, go back to your distribution and click "Refresh" π’.
- The right side is for contributors (other main artists and/or featuring). If these artists already have pages, just select the platform from the dropdown menu and paste the URL. If they don't have a page yet, click "New" π΄ to create one.
π’ Step 6: Metadata Review
Check that all the metadata is accurate. The data under "Your album on digital platforms" is what will appear on the platforms.
π’ Step 7: Vendor Information
Enter the requested information. For individuals, your legal number is your social security number.
π’ Step 8: Digital Distribution Contract
Don't forget to check the box "I accept the digital distribution contract" to digitally sign your contract. Once the contract is signed, the product will change its status to "In progress" on the Distribution / Digital Catalogue page.
