🚫 Why Your Release May Have Been Rejected?

For artists and labels, making music available on streaming platforms is a key step in reaching audiences. However, a release may sometimes be rejected for digital distribution if it does not meet platform requirements and/or Wiseband’s distribution standards.

It is also important to understand the concept of artistic coherence. We accept releases that demonstrate a consistent artistic direction, both in their creative content and in the accuracy and consistency of the information provided.

We understand that a distribution refusal can be frustrating. Please keep in mind that our goal is always to help you reach your audience while ensuring compliance with platform guidelines and providing the best possible listening experience for users.

In this article, we explain the main reasons why a release might be rejected and how to avoid these issues in the future.

1️⃣ Reported Content, Potential Rights Issues, or Infringement Concerns

If your music is flagged for copyright violations or other legal concerns, it may be rejected. Failure to respect intellectual property rights is a common reason for refusal. Make sure you hold all necessary rights for every element of your music, including any samples used.

2️⃣ Suspected Use of AI-Generated Content

AI-generated content is becoming increasingly popular. While it can be a creative tool, it may also be misused to distribute content automatically in order to generate artificial streams.

In addition, AI-generated material may infringe existing copyrighted works. Because this area remains legally uncertain and potentially risky, we prioritize authentic music created by human artists.

3️⃣ Non-Musical Content

Content such as white noise, rain sounds, podcasts, or other non-musical audio is not considered musical content and will therefore be rejected.

We encourage artists to ensure that the content submitted is primarily musical in order to maintain the integrity of the platform.

4️⃣ Hateful content or classified as hate speech

Content identified as hateful or promoting violence, terrorism, or religious extremism will not be distributed.

Uploading such content may lead directly to the closure of the associated account.

5️⃣ Random or Inappropriate Cover Artwork

Visuals are carefully reviewed. Random, misleading, or inappropriate artwork can harm the user experience and may lead to rejection.

Make sure your cover does not include streaming platform logos, promotional or sales messages, and that it accurately reflects the musical content while meeting platform design standards.

6️⃣ Incorrect, Inconsistent, or Repetitive Metadata

Inaccurate or inconsistent metadata can negatively affect how your music is indexed and discovered. Ensure all metadata is complete, accurate, and clearly describes your work.

We pay particular attention to this information, especially for covers and remixes, but not exclusively. For example, choosing the wrong genre may lead to poor categorization and reduced visibility. Missing required details, such as songwriter names, may also result in rejection.

7️⃣ Sequencing of Similar or Nearly Identical Tracks

Including many nearly identical tracks within the same release may suggest an attempt to artificially increase play counts, which can lead to refusal.

8️⃣ Inappropriate Number or Duration of Tracks Within a Release

An unusual number of tracks or a release made mostly of very short tracks may affect the distribution decision. Extremely uniform track lengths can also appear suspicious.

Aim for a balanced tracklist with varied durations to maintain listener interest and reflect a coherent musical project.

9️⃣ Lack of a Coherent and Refined Musical Structure

Tracks that lack a clear musical structure may be rejected. This includes recordings made mainly of unorganized sounds, repetitive loops with little variation, or arrangements without progression.

Abrupt beginnings or endings, with no proper introduction or conclusion, may give the impression of an unfinished or unprofessional production.

🔟 Poor Audio Quality

Low-quality audio files may be detected and rejected. Ensure your recordings meet professional quality standards before submission.

1️⃣1️⃣ File Naming Issues

Incorrect or unclear file names can create technical issues during distribution. Use simple, consistent, and well-structured file names.

1️⃣2️⃣ Abnormal Selection of Distribution Platforms

A release may be refused if the selected platforms are not relevant to the project. Choose platforms that align with your target audience and overall strategy.

1️⃣3️⃣ Intentional Avoidance of the Product Modification Fee

Re-uploading content intentionally to avoid modification fees may result in rejection. Repeated attempts of this kind can lead to account closure.

More information on what can and cannot be modified is available HERE.

🟢 Conclusion

Some releases may be declined in order to comply with platform standards and ensure high-quality distribution.

If your release is rejected, this article most likely explains the reason. We are unable to provide additional individual feedback, and contacting support will not change the decision.

Accounts with repeated non-compliant submissions may be suspended or deleted, and no refunds can be issued in such cases.

Tips to avoid rejection:

  • Maintain artistic consistency across your project
  • Ensure all tracks meet quality standards
  • Verify that metadata is accurate and consistent
  • Confirm that you hold all necessary rights for distribution and broadcasting

A rejection is not the end, but a real opportunity to make adjustments.

In the vast majority of cases, it is not a final issue, but simply one or more elements to correct: metadata, artwork, rights, audio format, or missing information.

Take the time to carefully review the points mentioned above, make the necessary changes, and then resubmit your distribution with confidence. A compliant release ensures faster delivery and a smoother process.

Once these adjustments are made, your music can continue its path to the platforms.
